How do I go about planning for discharge?
You should
discuss with the medical, nursing and other paramedical
personnel, for example the doctor or the therapist about the
patient's medical condition and recovery process.
You should
also discuss among your family members regarding plans for
caring of the patient after discharge. It is important to
remember to take into consideration the patient's preference
for the type of care.
You can
then visit or contact Nightingale Lodge if you require any
assistance in making arrangements for the appropriate services
that the patient requires.
Nightingale Lodge offers a variety of services:
Post
Operation services
Nightingale Lodge caters for patients who are post operation
and nearly ready to go home but who are not quite in a
position to look after themselves.
Frail
care services
Our care
centre also provides
services for patients who do require a more permanent facility
to take care of them (frail care) .
Holiday
services
We also cater for people who temporarily require accommodation
and 24 hour care during holiday periods. We also cater for
patients cared for by people who would like to go on
holidays in Port Elizabeth and who would not normally be able
to come due to them providing special care to their
dependants. This concept allows the family to enjoy their
holiday whilst knowing that their dependants are taking care
of and nearby.
